About Me
I am an astrophysicist. I work at INAF Trieste Astronomical Observatory. My research covers various themes of astrophysics, from the evolution of galaxies and black holes to gamma-ray bursts. Since 1986 I have contributed to about 380 specialist articles in refereed journals, which have produced> 22,000 citations.
I have held more than 50 lectures for general public and I have written many scientific articles.
I am an expert in Space Astrophysics, I served in the Astrophysical Working Group and in the Future Technology Advisory Panel of the European Space Agency from 2010 to 2013. I was on the INAF Scientific Council from 2005 to 2007 and I was Director of the Astronomical Observatory of Rome from 2012 to 2017.
I have participated in many space projects in the past 30 years, including the first scientific satellite of the Italian Space Agency BeppoSAX. I am currently the scientific manager of the HERMES-SP project, a constellation of nano-satellites for high energy astrophysics.
